Jacob Diskin, M.D., is a dedicated ophthalmologist who brings a deep understanding and passion for cataract, refractive, and glaucoma surgery as well as comprehensive ophthalmology to Clavenna Vision Institute.
He has experience in the medical and surgical management of numerous ocular diseases, including glaucoma, dry eye, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and Uveitis.
Throughout his years in training, Dr. Diskin has learned first-hand the immeasurable value of vision and eye health. With this deep understanding, Dr. Diskin values the unique needs of each patient and is deeply committed to delivering empathetic and tailored care. By customizing treatment plans to meet individual needs, he fosters a collaborative environment that actively engages patients in their eye health decisions through attentive listening and involvement. Dr. Diskin's passion for ophthalmology was realized at a young age, as he comes from a family with a strong tradition of accomplished ophthalmologists, including his father and uncle. A native of Michigan, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, and medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the esteemed Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, Michigan in 2023.
Demonstrating exceptional leadership, Dr. Diskin has assumed key service roles at the Kresge Eye Institute and has a deep commitment to clinical research, primarily focused on overcoming barriers to eye care in underserved communities and analyzing retinal blood flow in diabetic retinopathy patients. His efforts have earned him multiple awards, including the "Quality Improvement Project of the Year" at Kresge Eye Institute and the prestigious Dong H. Shin Outstanding Ophthalmology Research Award.
Dr. Diskin also values humanitarian work. By organizing and running free eye clinics in Detroit, he has provided crucial eye care and healthcare navigation to the uninsured. Additionally, he volunteered at free health clinics around the city, delivering general medical care to those in need. Dr. Diskin's commitment to giving back extended globally, as evidenced by his involvement in building and operating a free clinic in an Ecuadorian village, and by volunteering on an ambulance to help deliver emergency care overseas.
Apart from his medical endeavors, Dr. Diskin enjoys a variety of hobbies, including a passion for live music, both as a musician and an avid spectator. He also finds solace in playing sports, hiking and indulging in travel to discover new cultures and experiences. Family remains a top priority for Dr. Diskin, who values precious moments spent with his wife, Sari, and his son, Miles.
